(GREEN BAY) β€“ State Representative Amaad Rivera-Wagner (D-Green Bay) released the following statement in response to reporting on the deadly shooting connected) to federal immigration enforcement activity in Minneapolis, as reported by NPR:

β€œIt is always a tragedy when a life is lost. When deadly force is used, families and communities are

forever changed. Today is a sad day.

Across our country, fear is taking hold. We are seeing people, including American citizens, arrested without due process. We are seeing people targeted not because of criminal behavior, but because of how they look or where they come from. I am hearing directly from families in Green Bay who are afraid to send their kids to school or go to a doctor’s appointment because they worry about being caught up in a system that does not seem to care whether it gets it right.

In Green Bay, we believe in taking care of one another. Decency, dignity, and fairness are not political ideas, they are community values.

This should be a wake up call. Government can be a force for good, but when it is weaponized to

divide people, the consequences are real and sometimes irreversible. Our country deserves leaders

bring people together, not tear them apart.

My heart is with the people of Minneapolis as they grapple with this tragedy.”

Rep. Rivera-Wagner represents the 90th Assembly District in Green Bay.
