GREEN BAY – “The current national climate has weaponized divisive rhetoric in ways that have eroded trust in government at every level. I understand and acknowledge the very real concerns people have when symbols or language appear connected to dangerous ideologies or historic harm.

Just over five years ago, on the eve of January 6, election conspiracy theorists stood in our community calling for vigilante action by extremist groups against public servants. That history matters, and it informs why these concerns are taken seriously.

At the same time, I believe deeply in the people who serve our community with integrity. In Green Bay, decency, dignity, and fairness are not partisan ideas; they are community values.

I support Chief Davis and the Green Bay Police Department in their efforts to serve this community with integrity and care. A symbol alone does not always tell a person’s full story, and it is appropriate to approach these situations with both fairness and caution. I also appreciate the department sharing its tattoo and hiring policies as part of being transparent and responsive to community concerns, while remaining committed to public safety that is free from bias, rejects extremism, and serves every resident.”
