Madison, Wis. — Rep. Ann Roe (D-Janesville) was honored to receive the YMCA’s Jason Childress Legislative Champion Award at the Upper Midwest Alliance of YMCAs conference Wednesday. Roe was nominated by Angie Bolson, CEO of the YMCA of Northern Rock County.

Jason Childress was known statewide for his tireless advocacy for children. He served on the State Senate Democratic Committee and worked to advance legislation benefiting children and communities.

Rep. Ann Roe issued the following statement:

“I am truly humbled and grateful to the YMCA for this recognition. The award represents recognition of work I have done, but most importantly to me, it reflects the faith and energy the YMCA and its stakeholders place with me to continue working hard on their behalf. I believe in their critical role in our community as caregivers, teachers, and supporters of all our children. We are stronger together thanks to our YMCA.”

Angie Bolson, CEO of the YMCA of Northern Rock County stated:

“Ann was elected to the Assembly in 2024 and immediately got to work. She authored 26 bills, but more importantly, she listens deeply and responds to the real needs of her community. She is consistently present, engaged with constituents, and brings people together to move ideas forward. As the YMCA explores the future of our facilities, it was important to have her voice at the table. Ann is a strong cheerleader for our 135 & Beyond project.”
