Madison… Today, Representative Patrick Snyder (R-Weston) hosted Jane Graham Jennings as a Hometown Hero during the State Assembly’s Floor Session. Jane Graham Jennings was chosen to receive this honor due to her long service as the Executive Director of the Women’s Community in Wausau. Rep. Snyder said:
“Through her work at the Women’s Community, Jane Graham Jennings has helped so many survivors of domestic violence in Wausau. Additionally, Jane is well-respected across Wisconsin as one of the leading voices in sexual violence prevention and I am proud to honor her important work to keep Wisconsinites safe”.
Additionally, Rep. Snyder voted in favor of Assembly Bill 840 which imposes new regulations on large data centers in Wisconsin. Rep. Snyder said:
“One of the most pressing issues I have been hearing about from constituents lately is concerns regarding data centers in Wisconsin – this is why I was proud to support legislation to ensure that data centers pay for electricity use on their own and that data centers meet strict land and water use requirements to protect our natural resources for generations to come.”
AB 840 ensures that electricity costs not be passed on to residential ratepayers across Wisconsin and that data centers pay for the electricity they use. Additionally, the legislation requires that data centers use closed-loop cooling systems, which recycle a fixed volume of water. This minimizes freshwater consumption and reduces the environmental impact from cooling operations. Additionally, the bill requires that an annual report on water usage be sent by data center operators to the Department of Natural Resources for publication. Lastly, the bill mandates that land be safeguarded through reclamation and restoration requirements tied to a bond or security that must be filed to cover reclamation costs and if construction is not completed, then the site must be restored to its pre-construction condition.
