MADISON, WI – On Monday, June 29, Representative Shelia Stubbs was presented with the Wisconsin Counties Association’s Outstanding Legislator Award for the 2025 – 2026 Legislative Session, an award given to legislators who have demonstrated leadership and represented county interest on key issues in the legislature and in their districts.  Representative Shelia Stubbs (D-Madison) released the following statement:

“I would like to thank the Wisconsin Counties Association for honoring me with the Outstanding Legislator Award for the 2025 – 2026 Legislative Session and recognize them for the work they do to elevate and advocate for the needs of county governments across our state.

Prior to becoming a state legislator, I had the privilege of serving for 16 years on the Dane County Board of Supervisors, which gave me detailed insight into how our county governments support the infrastructure, public safety, and human services needs of all constituents.

I also had the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Counties Association, both for the 2014 term and from 2014 to 2015, where I chaired the Judicial and Public Safety Steering Committee. I additionally served as the Vice Chair of the Law Enforcement Committee on the Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee for the National Association of Counties.

I am committed to ensuring that our counties have the resources and support they need to provide high-quality public services to all Wisconsin residents.  As a State Representative, I will continue to listen to the voices of county government when weighing the impacts of proposed legislation and work alongside the counties to build a safer, stronger, healthier Wisconsin for all.”
