Milwaukee, WI – In a continued response to the overturn of Roe V. Wade in 2022, Reproductive Justice Action Milwaukee (RJAM) is hosting its 4th annual No Roe, No Rest community event on Saturday, June 27th at 6:30 p.m. This year, the event will take place at Red Arrow Park with speakers, activities and tabling from community organizations. Following the event, RJAM will lead attendees on a march to City Hall at 8:00 p.m. where a vigil will be held to honor those who have died or been incarcerated following the 2022 Dobbs decision.
In addition to federal attacks on reproductive rights, No Roe, No Rest will highlight attacks happening in Wisconsin and encourage attendees to take action. There will be opportunities to contact Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s leadership and sign RJAM’s petition demanding the hospital resume gender-affirming care for patients under 19. There will also be educational resources about crisis pregnancy centers that continue to expand in the state.
“Living in a post-Dobbs world has proven the overturning of Roe v. Wade to be catastrophic. Abortion is more inaccessible than ever before. As an organization, we demand unrestricted access to abortion including no mandatory waiting periods, the right to telehealth services, abortion access beyond 22 weeks and access to abortion pills, free of barriers,” said Brooke Curry, co-chair of RJAM.
Bodily autonomy is non-negotiable. Abortion and gender-affirming care is essential healthcare. Reproductive justice means the right to have children, the right to not have children, and the right to raise children in safe and sustainable communities. Reproductive justice demands self-determination, sexual autonomy and gender freedom for every human being.
