MADISON, WI—Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez, a registered nurse and Democratic candidate for governor, released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down tariffs imposed by President Trump and backed by Congressman Tom Tiffany:
“The Supreme Court did the right thing today. The Trump-Tiffany tariffs raised prices for Wisconsinites. They cost workers their jobs. And they created chaos that made it impossible for manufacturers to plan or compete. Congressman Tom Tiffany supported these tariffs and stood with Trump even when it hurt Wisconsin workers, farmers, and small businesses. He chose political loyalty over Wisconsin. As governor, I’ll always put Wisconsin first. I’ll support small businesses that got squeezed by the unnecessary costs Trump and Tiffany imposed on them. I’ll invest in worker retraining for jobs that got disrupted. And I’ll fight for trade policies that will help Wisconsin manufacturers compete globally. Wisconsinites deserve a governor who will stand up for them instead of rubber-stamping Trump’s failed policies.”
