Dem gubernatorial candidate Kelda Roys today announced a $500,000 media buy targeting primary voters, starting with a spot in which the state senator says she’s delivered for Wisconsin.

The Madison senator is the second Dem gubernatorial candidate to go up on the air. According to AdImpact, former DOA Secretary Joel Brennan has spent nearly $268,000 on ads. Meanwhile, the Wisconsin Forward Fund, which is backing Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez, has spent nearly $755,000, and Wisconsin Future Rising, which supports Milwaukee County Exec David Crowley, has dropped $117,000.

Roys’ campaign said the ad will specifically target Dem primary voters through streaming services both online and on TV. That includes an emphasis on the Milwaukee suburbs, where her campaign said polling shows she most efficiently takes votes from Rodriguez and former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes.

In the spot, Roys rides a bike with two of her children in a seat behind her. She says she’d spent the past 25 years trying to make things better for her kids and yours. That includes protecting abortion rights, winning health care for 80,000 people and standing up for workers.

As she rides through Madison, Roys pledges to “protect our democracy from Donald Trump’s regime, open the state health care plan so anyone can buy in and fully fund schools. An image appears on the screen showing she’s been recommended by the Wisconsin Education Association Council, the state’s largest teachers union.

She closes the spot, “I’m Kelda Roys. Let’s ride.”
