RACINE,WI – FEBRUARY 26 2026 – Lorenzo Santos of Racine is proud to announce his candidacy for Congress in Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, representing Racine, Kenosha, most of Walworth County, and parts of Rock and Milwaukee counties. A Navy veteran, emergency management professional, and current member of the Navy Reserve, Lorenzo is stepping forward with a bold, people-first platform focused on Affordability, Healthcare, and Defending Democracy.
“I’ve had the privilege to serve in uniform, to support our emergency responders on hard days, and help strengthen our community through the organizations with which I proudly served. Now, I’m ready to continue serving as a member of Congress.”
Running to represent the communities of Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, we know working families deserve leadership that delivers real results, and not political theater.
“We need a representative who focuses on the needs of hard-working Wisconsin families rather than political theatre, and I’m ready to do that. I’m running because I believe in putting people over politics. I’ll stand up for Wisconsinites, even if it means disagreeing with a president from my own party. My loyalty is to the Constitution and to the families of this district, not to any one politician.”
We have a sharp contrast with the vision of incumbent Bryan Steil.
“Bryan Steil should know that non-citizens already can’t vote. What people are worried about isn’t political scare tactics… It’s the cost of Living, the cost of rent, and whether they can afford to fill their prescriptions. Most people aren’t worried about stocks, but they do care that he made it harder to stock their pantries. He backed one of the largest tax cuts for the wealthy in American history. He voted to take away healthcare from millions of Americans. That’s not standing with working families, that’s siding with powerful corporate interests.”
“If only he showed a fraction of that energy, ensuring the full Epstein files were released and that abusers were held accountable. When I’m in Congress, I’ll fight for transparency and accountability. Bryan should be on the side of the working class and not the Epstein class.”
Grounding our campaign in optimism and service, we emphasize a belief in the strength and resilience of Wisconsin communities.
“I believe in us, I believe in the workers who get up before sunrise, the small business owners who keep our downtowns alive, the veterans who’ve sacrificed for our freedoms, the farmers who meet america, and the working families who just want a fair shot. We deserve leadership that fights for affordability, protects healthcare, and defends our democracy with courage. I’m running to represent everyday Wisconsinites, because we deserve no less.”
Santos will officially launch his campaign with a Public event at Monument Square in Racine on Saturday, March 7th at 4:00 PM.
We invite community members from across the district to join us in the movement to bring accountable and people-centered leadership to Washington.
