[Superior, WI…] Members of the Douglas County Board of Supervisors came out strongly today for former 73rd State Representative Angie Sapik in her bid for the 25th State Senate seat.
Board members included leaders who are supporting the former state assembly member from Douglas County. Sapik was elected to the Douglas County Board of Supervisors in 2024 after not seeking reelection to the State Assembly after partisan redistricting. As a write-in candidate, Sapik won two seats on the board.
“I’m heartened by the deep support I enjoy among the Board and the voters of Douglas County who helped elect me to the state Assembly as well as the county board. The good people of Douglas County join people from all corners of the district — from Iron County to Washburn County to Polk County — who are all part of our campaign to ensure Northern Wisconsin has a strong voice in the state Senate. I am especially proud to have the support of Scott Luostari, who was my opponent in the 2022 assembly race primary, and ended up being my seatmate and friend on the county board,” said former State Representative Sapik.
Douglas County Board members endorsing Sapik include:
• Vice Chair Alan Jacques
• Second Vice Chair Scott Luostari
• Randy Skowlund
• John Lohse
• Steven Long
• Bill Fennessey
The Sapik for Senate campaign is bolstered by an astounding number of endorsements from law enforcement officials, political leaders, and elected officials.
• JB Van Hollen, Wisconsin Attorney General, District Attorney for Ashland and Bayfield Counties, US Attorney for the Western District
• Josh Schoemann, Washington County Executive and former Gubernatorial Candidate
• Dennis Stuart, Washburn County Sheriff
• Tanner Hiller, Republican Party of Iron County Chairman
• Bill Hagstrom, former Police Chief of the City of Ashland
