APPLETON, WI — Mark Scheffler for Congress campaign calls a press conference for 3:00 p.m. this afternoon at Houdini Plaza in Appleton to issue the following statement and to take questions from the media:

“Last week, the Secretary of the Brown County Republican Party and one of my Democratic primary challengers asked the Wisconsin Elections Commission to invalidate all of my nomination papers and remove our campaign from the ballot, despite the support of more than 1,300 voters who signed our petitions and the work of qualified Wisconsin electors who circulated them.

After a thorough review, the Wisconsin Elections Commission unanimously dismissed both challenges in their entirety. Not a single challenge was upheld. Today’s decision confirms what we knew from the beginning: our campaign had always met the requirements for ballot access and earned its rightful place on the ballot. I am deeply grateful to the Commission and to the more than 1,300 supporters who signed our nomination papers and helped us exceed the required threshold.

At a time when so many Americans feel disconnected from politics, voters deserve more choices, not fewer. They deserve a meaningful conversation about the future of Northeast Wisconsin, about who is best positioned to defeat Trump-endorsed Tony Wied in November, and who can deliver for the countless Wisconsinites who are working hard but still struggling to get ahead.

For too long, Democrats in Northeast Wisconsin have run the same campaigns to the same voters while expecting different results. Our campaign is taking a different approach. We are building the broad coalition necessary to win in November by engaging people across the political spectrum, listening first, and focusing on solutions that improve people’s lives.

Whether voters identify as Democrats, Republicans, Independents, or have become frustrated with politics altogether, our campaign offers an independent-minded perspective focused on restoring trust, strengthening our northeast Wisconsin community, and finding common ground where others only see division.

The people of Northeast Wisconsin deserve a campaign focused on earning support, not limiting choices. That has been a defining principle of this campaign from the beginning, and we look forward to making our case to voters across the District in the months ahead.

We thank the WEC for its wisdom in giving the voters a clear choice in the Democratic primary in August and ultimately in November when voters elect me to represent the 8th congressional district and defeat the MAGA agenda.”
