WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) questioned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on the Trump Administration’s lack of preparedness for the illegal war with Iran, including pushing him on the delayed care that injured Wisconsin servicemembers received after sustaining brain injuries from Iranian attacks in Kuwait. While Secretary Hegseth testified in front of the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee today to defend President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget proposal, it was also his first time in front of Baldwin since the war began months ago.

Service members injured in the March 1 Iranian drone attack in Kuwait contacted the Senator’s office and reported they were not getting the care they needed for injuries they sustained in the opening days of President Donald Trump’s war in Iran. Baldwin then demanded action from the Administration to get these servicemembers care, and only after pressure, and nearly a month since the attack, did they get proper care for the injuries, including traumatic brain injury. This week, Baldwin met with some of these servicemembers from Wisconsin to hear their stories and ensure they were now getting proper care.

Senator Baldwin has been an outspoken critic of President Trump’s illegal war with Iran, forcing the Senate to vote on her War Powers Resolution to immediately bring an end to the illegal Iran war.
