(MADISON)—Today, Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) sent a letter to the U.S Postal Service’s Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee requesting that Bob Uecker be commemorated on a U.S. Forever stamp and issued the following statement:
“Today is Bob Uecker’s birthday. He would have been 91 years old today. In honor of his legacy, I’ve asked the Citizen’s Stamp Advisory Committee to honor him on a postage stamp. Affectionately known as “Mr. Baseball,” Uecker was a beloved figure whose career spanned more than 60 years. He brought baseball into homes across Wisconsin and the nation as the radio voice of the Milwaukee Brewers.
“He was also a familiar face in American entertainment, starring in television shows like Mr. Belvedere, and the Major League films. His self-deprecating humor and dedication to charity made him a favorite both on and off the field.
“Honoring Bob Uecker with a Forever stamp would be a fitting tribute to his legacy of joy, resilience, and service.
“I hope the Citizen’s Stamp Advisory Committee will consider Bob Uecker as a worthy and memorable figure for a future postage stamp.”
