Madison, WI – Today, a bill Senate President Mary Felzkowski (R-Tomahawk) authored to raise weight limits of utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) was signed into law. 2025 Wisconsin Act 83 raises the weight limit to 3,500 pounds, without fluids, for a vehicle to be considered a UTV. This change takes technological and safety innovations, which have led to increased vehicle weights, into account.
Senator Felzkowski issued the following statement:
As UTVs continue to be a driving force in Wisconsin’s tourism industry, it’s important that government does not hinder this growth and inadvertently divert tourism dollars to other states. This is a commonsense change, and I’m glad that all parties involved recognized the need for the legislation.
