GREEN BAY, WI. — “I’ve participated in multiple bipartisan meetings about reforms of the state prison system that would enable the Green Bay Correctional Institution to close, but the only specific plan I’ve seen was in Governor Evers’ last budget proposal.
Wisconsin’s prison system needs reform, and GBCI needs to close. Any plan to do so must preserve public safety and make sure correctional staff are supported throughout the transition.
I remain willing to work with anyone to find a responsible path forward.”
