Constituents Can Nominate a Local Neighbor Who Makes an Unsung Difference for Recognition

Madison – Today, State Senator Sarah Keyeski (D-Lodi) announced an opportunity to advance the Governor’s “Year of the Neighbor” by nominating a fellow constituent of Senate District 14 to be recognized for their unassuming acts of kindness that make the community better.

Our “Notable Neighbor” appreciation is for those quiet community contributors across District 14 that often go unrecognized for their kindhearted actions and that simply make the area better. A nominee could be your favorite school crossing guard, a neighbor that lends a hand with your snow removal, someone who always greets you kindly when you visit a business, or even a child that sweetly waves to you from their school bus window. Any constituent can nominate a neighbor through the form on Senator Keyeski’s website, linked here.

One special winner will be announced at the end of each month. Our “Notable Neighbor” will receive a legislative citation thanking them for their kindness and a small knit item from Senator Keyeski because ‘kindness knits us together.’

Senator Keyeski released the following statement on this new opportunity below:

“Governor Evers declared 2026 as ‘The Year of the Neighbor,’ and in the spirit of neighborliness, I want to put a spotlight on the kindness of everyday Wisconsinites living in my district!

“This recognition is for people who simply do something in their communities that make a meaningful, positive impact. My goal is to show that these acts of kindness are noticed, valued, and part of what makes District 14 a wonderful place to live.

“We are all knit together in this big wide world, and I hope to highlight the impact and ripple effect of the goodness put into the world when we act selflessly.

“I can’t wait to receive your nominations and personally meet the quiet heroes in our communities!”
