MADISON, Wis – Today, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), along with five other states, including the Wisconsin Department of Justice, reached a settlement with Deere & Company in an antitrust lawsuit over “right to repair” practices. In short, Deere & Company has agreed to give farmers and independent repair providers, on fair and reasonable terms, repair resources equivalent to those Deere now makes available to authorized Deere dealers.

More details are available from the WisDOJ here.

Senator Brad Pfaff (D – Onalaska) released the following statement:

“I have long supported farmers’ right to repair their own equipment, including authoring legislation to end these predatory practices against Wisconsin’s family farmers. This settlement puts our nation’s farmers first, allowing them to save money by repairing their own equipment or choosing the mechanic they trust.”

“Thank you to Attorney General Kaul for joining this lawsuit and fighting for Wisconsin’s farmers.”
