State Senator Romaine Quinn (R-Birchwood) today announced he is endorsing marine veteran Kevin Hermening in the 7th congressional district Republican primary.

“When our community, our state, and our nation was in need – Kevin Hermening has always answered the call. From serving locally as President of his school board, as a United States Marine, and as a financial adviser for nearly four decades, there is nobody in this race more prepared, more qualified, and more ready to lead on day one.”

Kevin Hermening is widely known for being the youngest of the 52 hostages taken during the Iran Hostage Crisis, where he spent 444 days in captivity. After his harrowing experience, Hermening chose to stay in the fight – reenlisting and serving our nation for 13 years in the United States Marines.

“Senator Quinn has always put the people of this region first, and I respect that,” said Hermening. “His endorsement means a great deal because it comes from someone who understands our communities and the challenges families are facing. I’m committed to representing this district with the seriousness it deserves.”

Senator Quinn currently represents the 25th state senate district which includes Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Polk, Sawyer, and Washburn Counties.

The Republican primary for congress will be held on Tuesday, August 11th.
