GREEN BAY, WI — Today, the Wisconsin Department of Administration announced its recommended Non-State Grant Program awards, selecting projects from a competitive pool of 257 statewide applications requesting more than $278 million.

With $50 million available, only a limited number of not-for-profit community development projects could be recommended. Final approval now rests with the Wisconsin State Building Commission.

Four projects in the Green Bay area were recommended for more than $2.2 million of grant funding:

  • Brown County Library – New Branch Library in Ashwaubenon

Total Project Cost: $9,024,700; State Grant Requested: $940,000; Recommended State Award: $376,000

  • City of Green Bay – Green Bay Fire Station Flats Apartments

Total Project Cost: $19,450,000; State Grant Requested: $2,000,000; Recommended State Award: $1,200,000

  • On Broadway, Inc. – Green Bay Public Market

Total Project Cost: $21,885,934;State Grant Requested: $2,000,000; Recommended State Award: $168,700

  • Wello, Inc. – Cultivating Community: Advancing Economic Development and Sustainability Moving Wisconsin’s Food System Forward for the Future

Total Project Cost: $1,563,000; State Grant Requested: $781,500; Recommended State Award: $468,900

Senator Wall supported these projects, as well as several other worthy local organizations that also applied.

“While not every deserving project could be funded, I’m happy for the recommended organizations, and I hope to see the funds approved,” said Senator Wall. “These projects will help make Brown County an even better place to live.”
