Wisconsin voters chose a safety and justice champion at the polls this November. David Crowley has officially been elected Wisconsin’s next governor. In response to this victory, Serious About Safety PAC board member Ellen Flenniken released the following statement:
“Crowley’s opponents and their allies invested more than $21 million in ads that tried to paint Crowley as ‘too soft on crime.’ Despite those efforts to stoke fear, Wisconsin voters elected a governor who ran on delivering safer, stronger communities,” said Flenniken. “Voters want elected leaders who support effective, accountable policing and invest in the solutions that prevent crime before it happens. Crowley championed mental health crisis response, drug treatment programs, and community violence intervention on the campaign trail. Wisconsin voters want real solutions to public safety, not ‘tough-on-crime’ scare tactics. We look forward to supporting Governor-elect Crowley as he delivers on a safety and justice agenda in office.”
David Crowley was one of two candidates SASPAC supported this cycle; Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan was the other. SASPAC ran the following ad in markets across Wisconsin ahead of Election Day.
