MADISON, WI – As the SSDC reports record-setting fundraising numbers, and State Senate candidates Robyn Vining (SD-5) and Trevor Jung (SD-21) have over $240K on hand — Senators Hutton (SD-5) and Wanggaard (SD-21) are reporting surprisingly anemic fundraising totals. Sen. Hutton reported raising $24K in the last six months, with $20,000 coming as a gift to himself. Sen. Wanggaard reported raising just 80 cents in the first half of the year and enters the 2026 election year with less than $50K on hand.

SSDC Communications Director Will Karcz on Senators Hutton and Wanggaard’s embarrassing fundraising totals:

“The whole state is expecting Senators Hutton and Wanggaard to run on home with their tails between their legs, so why are they dragging out this embarrassing exercise? Senator Hutton knows that a $20K loan to himself won’t move the needle, Senator Wanggaard quite literally couldn’t raise more than a dollar in the first half of 2025. They don’t want to run, Republicans know they are going to lose these seats, their fundraising is a joke, it’s time to call it quits.”

Rob Hutton fundraising by the numbers:

  • Raised in second half of 2025: $24,325.00
  • Total raised in 2025: $29,995.50
  • Amount gifted to himself: $20,000.00

Van Wanggaard fundraising by the numbers:

  • Raised in the first half of 2025: $0.80
  • Raised in the second half of 2025: $97,051.42 less than Trevor Jung
  • Cash-on-hand:  $82,945.14 less than Trevor Jung
