Electorette: Can Democrats Win a Blue Trifecta in Wisconsin? | Sen. Diane Hesselbein
- “So this was something, when I saw that he proposed this, I thought, oh no, there shouldn’t be anybody in Wisconsin taking money from this illegal slush fund and using it to line their own pockets.”(Discussing No Taxpayer Dollars for Insurrectionist Act)
- “Everybody in the entire United States should be for this, because no one should be making money off the bad decisions that they have made.”
- “People in Wisconsin, what they’re worried about is affordability, grocery costs, gas prices going up, and everything else. So the fact that he is just wasting so much money that could actually help people, and get rid of the Affordable Care Act subsidies. We could be helping people with healthcare, with healthy meals, healthy schools, drug and prescription costs, so many things people, not just in Wisconsin but the United States, need.”
- “Childcare people were doing such a great job, and childcare centers were paying their people more, trying to keep it affordable. They were doing that for a very long time. But unfortunately, those subsidies end at the end of this month.”
- “And we know that childcare is so important, especially in those first years of life, that we need people to go to work and they need to feel really confident in who they are entrusting with their child. Childcare is something that Wisconsin needs to get right, and we need to get it right now.”
- “So we are looking forward to the November election because we need to change the faces of the table that are making these decisions and make sure that we put Wisconsinites front and center.”
- “We went to a tree farm around the holidays, and we’re like, how are things going for these people? What are tariffs doing to your industry? What could the state of Wisconsin do for you? And a lot of people were saying costs are just too high.”
- “So we’ve launched all these bills, doing healthy school meals, making sure that we could give a free lunch to everybody in the state of Wisconsin that’s going to K-12 school. The Republicans have refused that. So we have common sense approaches on how we can make things affordable.”
- “We can have a Democratic trifecta this fall. I think we’re going to flip the Senate.”
- “We are hoping to flip those chambers so we can actually put positive things on the agenda for the people of Wisconsin.”
