Republican Tom Tiffany released a new ad that uses past statements by Dem rival David Crowley to suggest he’s an “accomplice” to “illegal immigrants” accused of crimes.
Tiffany’s campaign said the ad is running statewide on digital, streaming and broadcast. As of this morning, Tiffany had $18.8 million in reservations between Aug. 11 and the November election. Overall, Tiffany and his allies have laid down $41.3 million in buys compared to $24.2 million by Crowley and those backing him.
The new 30-second ad opens with video of Crowley saying, “When it comes down to the immigrants, I’m not an ally, I’m an accomplice. I will be with you no matter what.”
The narrator then says an illegal immigrant and repeat drunken driver in Dane County killed two teenagers. The spot again plays Crowley saying. “I’m an accomplice.”
The narrator then says an “illegal” tied up and blindfolded a 12-year-old girl to rape her before the ad again plays Crowley saying, “I’m an accomplice.”
The narrator then says a drunken illegal immigrant in Milwaukee killed a Special Olympian on his way to church before again playing video of Crowley saying, “I’m an accomplice.”
The narrator then closes the spot saying Crowley “stands with illegal immigrants, not you,” before the ad repeats the video of Crowley saying, “No matter what.”
