HALES CORNERS, WI – Congressman Tom Tiffany today unveiled the next part of his Unlocking Wisconsin’s Potential agenda, an eight-point affordability plan to lower taxes, reduce everyday costs, and put more money back in the pockets of Wisconsin families.

“Wisconsin families work hard for every dollar they earn, but government at every level keeps taking more,” said Tiffany. “Property taxes are too high, utility bills have soared, and everyday purchases cost more. Meanwhile, David Crowley has never met a tax hike he didn’t like. He raised Milwaukee County’s sales tax by 80%, raised property taxes five times, and even voted against a 10% middle-class income tax cut. We cannot afford Tax Collector Crowley taking more of your paycheck just to spend more in Madison.”

Tiffany’s Keep More of Your Hard-Earned Money plan includes eight steps:

  • Lower Property Taxes: End the 400-year property tax increase and freeze property taxes so families and seniors aren’t taxed out of their homes.
  • Deliver a 10% Working Families Income Tax Cut: Cut income taxes by 10% for working families earning under $150,000. Crowley voted against a 10% middle-class income tax cut in the Legislature, while Tiffany supported it.
  • End Taxes on Tips and Overtime: Eliminate state income taxes on tips and overtime so hardworking Wisconsinites keep more of what they earn.
  • Return the Surplus: Return the entire state surplus to Wisconsin taxpayers instead of spending more in Madison.
  • Reduce Utility Costs: Appoint PSC commissioners who put ratepayers first, protect reliable baseload power, and embrace next-generation nuclear energy.
  • Prevent Sales Tax Hikes: Protect Wisconsin families from additional sales tax increases. Crowley already raised Milwaukee County’s sales tax by 80%.
  • Lower Gas Prices: Fully repeal Wisconsin’s outdated minimum markup law and end government-mandated higher prices.
  • Create Good-Paying Jobs: Lower taxes, cut red tape, speed up permitting, and reform occupational licensing to grow Wisconsin businesses and create opportunity.

“Government should be looking for ways to make life more affordable, not looking for new ways to reach into your pocketbook. We unlock Wisconsin’s potential by putting power back where it belongs: with the people who work for a living, not the politicians who spend for a living,” Tiffany concluded.
