WAUKESHA, WI – The Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) endorsed Tom Tiffany for governor. Established in 1947, the Wisconsin Builders Association is a professional trade association representing 21 local associations dedicated to building homes and strengthening communities across Wisconsin.
“The American Dream of homeownership is slipping out of reach for too many Wisconsin families. The average first-time homebuyer in Wisconsin is now 40 years old, up from 29 just a decade ago. As governor, I’ll repeal the Democrats’ 400-year property tax increase, freeze property taxes, cut regulations by 25 percent, and stop Wall Street investors from buying up single-family homes. It’s time for a Red Tape Reset that lowers costs, speeds up homebuilding, and makes the American Dream achievable again right here in Wisconsin,” said Tom Tiffany.

Government regulations currently add an estimated $88,500 to the cost of building a new home in the Midwest. Wisconsin’s burdensome regulatory environment also contributes to permitting delays that can leave first-time homebuyers waiting 14 months before construction even begins. Every unnecessary regulation increases costs, delays projects, and makes homeownership less attainable for Wisconsin families.

Building code reforms in Virginia reduced the cost of constructing a new home by more than $24,000, demonstrating that commonsense regulatory reform can lower costs while maintaining safety. As governor, Tom Tiffany will pursue similar reforms to make housing more affordable and ensure more Wisconsin families can achieve the American Dream of homeownership.
