FOND DU LAC, WI – Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney accepted the endorsement of the Republican Party of Wisconsin (RPW) at the party’s state convention on Saturday, winning the support of the grassroots activists and delegates who form the backbone of the party’s organizing and field operation across all 72 counties. Toney released the following statement after the endorsement:

“I am deeply honored to earn the endorsement of the Republican Party of Wisconsin and the grassroots activists who are the backbone of this party. These are the men and women who knock the doors, make the calls, and fight for Wisconsin families –  and I am ready to fight alongside them. Together, we are going to put public safety over politics and bring conservative, common-sense leadership back to the Department of Justice.

“After nearly eight years, Josh Kaul’s record of broken promises speaks for itself. He promised to fix the crime labs; the nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau confirmed they are slower, testing fewer items, with longer DNA turnaround times than when he started. He promised to address the drug crisis; today there are zero narcotics investigative agents serving the entire northern half of Wisconsin. Josh Kaul is everything people hate about politics – he says one thing on the campaign trail and he does the opposite once elected. Enough is enough.”

The RPW endorsement unlocks access to the party’s statewide grassroots and support network as Toney heads into the primary and builds toward a November general election campaign. It signals that Wisconsin Republicans are united behind a candidate with the prosecutorial credentials, bipartisan track record, and documented contrast with Josh Kaul’s broken promises.
