FOND DU LAC, WI – Just last week, Eric Toney’s campaign for Attorney General announced both a record fundraising haul and endorsements from more than half of Wisconsin’s sheriffs.

“I’m so grateful to the members of law enforcement who have already stepped up to support us, and to the hundreds of Wisconsinites who contributed to the campaign,” said Toney. “We know it’s a long way until November, and we have to keep our foot on the gas – but this level of early momentum is very exciting, and shows just how invested folks are in electing an Attorney General who will actually put public safety over politics.”

Record-Breaking Fundraising

  • Toney raised $450,000 since launching his campaign in October, the largest amount ever raised by a non-incumbent Wisconsin Attorney General candidate in their first fundraising period.
  • Toney outraised incumbent Josh Kaul by $160,000 in this reporting period.
  • Josh Kaul has raised $400,000 less than he had at this same point in his 2022 campaign, and has $383,000 less in cash on hand.

Endorsements from 44 Wisconsin Sheriffs

  • Toney announced endorsements from a bipartisan list of 44 current and former Wisconsin sheriffs from all across the state.
  • 39 of those endorsements are from current officeholders, representing more than half (54%) of all sitting Wisconsin sheriffs.

Media Mentions

  • Radio host Dan O’Donnell: “Is there anybody in Wisconsin politics who’s had a better week than conservative Attorney General candidate Eric Toney? Not only has he announced earlier in the week that he’s now got more than half of the sheriffs in this state endorsing him – a bipartisan group of sheriffs, by the way – but he has set a record for a first fundraising reporting period for a nonincumbent Attorney General candidate. He is dramatically outraising his liberal opponent, the incumbent Josh Kaul, who is about $400,000 behind where he was in terms of money raised at this point in his 2022 re-election campaign.”
  • WisPolitics: “Eric Toney: The Fond du Lac County AG outraised Dem AG Josh Kaul over the last half of 2025, a rare fundraising bright spot for Republicans in the latest round of reports…Kaul spent part of the fall contemplating a run for guv before taking a pass and deciding to seek a third term as the state’s top cop. Maybe he was preoccupied with asking donors whether he should run for guv rather than to open their checkbook, insiders say. Either way, it’s a lackluster start to his reelection bid. …Toney is doing the right things so far to put him in position to pitch donors that he has a path to victory, especially after topping the incumbent for fundraising, insiders say.”
