MADISON, WI. — Last week, nationwide diesel prices hit a record $6.53 per gallon, which is a staggering 77% increase from last year. This record-high number comes at a time where President Trump and federal Republicans continue to fund war in Iran.
Representative Randy Udell (D-47th District) released the following statement:
“The consequences of Trump’s senseless war continue to hurt American families and businesses. Higher diesel prices affect every step of the supply chain, and Wisconsin’s farmers, truck drivers, and consumers are all suffering the price tag. With every rising gas and grocery bill, Wisconsin families are paying the cost for President Trump and federal Republicans’ war in Iran.
“Last session, I fought for actionable policies to reduce the cost of living for Wisconsin families. These proposals included reducing grocery bills by making school meals free for students, providing property tax relief by funding public schools at the state level rather than through local property taxes, and increasing the spending power of our workforce by raising the minimum wage. Last session, Wisconsin’s Republican majority prevented each of these proposals from gaining traction.
“While Trump’s administration continues to make life more expensive, we must work as a state to reduce the financial burden on our families and local businesses.”
