The ninth leader of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Chancellor Edwin Martini, officially assumed the post today, Wednesday, July 1.
The busy first day for Martini began with a welcome reception in Schofield Hall. Several hundred faculty and staff and a handful of students took the opportunity to slip in from the morning rain showers for refreshments and the chance to introduce themselves to the new chancellor.
In the afternoon, a special gathering took place near the Council Oak tree, where several campus leaders reflected on the rich history of the Council Oak and the important role it has served as a meeting place for generations of Indigenous people and the campus community.
After a brief media session, Martini, a former history professor, was treated to a special tour of the University Archives and Special Collections on the fifth floor of McIntyre Library.
