Green Bay, WI – The Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) at UW-Green Bay is marking its 35th anniversary with a special event introducing the 2026-2027 lineup that reflects both the strength and growth of one of Wisconsin’s largest programs of its kind.

More than 850 members strong, LLI continues to expand access to learning by offering more than 250 courses with topics ranging from arts and science to outdoor exploration. This fall, LLI builds on its legacy with a dynamic mix of in-person and online experiences. With 25% of courses available virtually, the program delivers flexible, engaging learning designed for real life—no tests, no grades, just fun!

“At UW-Green Bay, we’re not just supporting lifelong learners—we’re actively investing in their future and building one of the strongest programs of its kind in the state,” said UW-Green Bay Executive Officer of Continuing Education and Workforce Training, Jess Lambrecht. “The momentum behind the Lifelong Learning Institute is real, and it’s growing. We are intentionally expanding to meet that demand and leading the way in creating accessible, engaging opportunities for this audience. This is a population we believe in, and we’re planning boldly for what comes next.”

This milestone year celebrates a program built over decades through community partnerships, dedicated instructors and members who believe learning never stops. Courses span arts, sciences, fitness, history and more, with new and exclusive experiences this fall, including:

  • Member-exclusive: Leadership in the Community: Lessons from the Field with former Green Bay Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy
  • Led by UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander: What Makes a Piece of Music Romantic?
  • New and unique: Feed the Birds, NOT the Squirrels! With Whitney Froelich from Wild Birds Unlimited

Community members can get a firsthand look at the fall lineup at the “Intro to LLI” event on Wednesday, July 1 at 10 a.m. in Fort Howard Hall at The Weidner. The free event offers a preview of the program, a chance to connect with members and instructors and includes an exclusive discount and complimentary catalog for attendees.

Membership provides access to two semesters of programming beginning on August 4, 2026. To take advantage of priority access, individuals are encouraged to become members by July 20, 2026.

For 35 years, LLI has helped community members stay engaged, explore new interests and build meaningful connections. It’s a program grounded in curiosity and encourages everyone to never stop learning.

The strength of LLI contributed to UW-Green Bay’s recent designation as an Age-Friendly University through the Age-Friendly Global Network (AFU GN.) They join a prestigious international coalition of higher education institutions committed to creating inclusive and supportive environments for learners of all ages. The AFU GN recognizes institutions that demonstrate a sustained commitment to age inclusivity in teaching, research and community engagement.
