Marinette, WI — Bayshore Arts Center, located on the UW-Green Bay Marinette Campus announces Theatre on the Bay’s production of The Music Man – Meredith Willson’s six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy. The Music Man is a classic, family-friendly story that has been entertaining audiences since 1957.  The Music Man takes the stage July 17-26, 2026, for six public performances.

Since 1966, Theatre on the Bay has been producing theatre and providing acting opportunities for people 18 years and older. The Music Man will be produced as the capstone performance of the 2025/2026 Season at Bayshore Arts Center. This is the third time Theatre on the Bay has produced The Music Man since 1966.

“I’ve watched the Robert Preston film version of The Music Man ever since I was a child, so it’s especially exciting to me to bring this classic to the Bayshore stage,” said Music Director Brittany Welch Pilz. “After the success of Matildain 2024 we saw how powerful it is to bring youth and adult performers together. Those productions create opportunities for mentorship and truly strengthen our theatre community.”

Robby McGhee makes his directorial debut at Bayshore Arts Center with the production, bringing years of Milwaukee theatre experience to the Marinette stage. “Theatre creates community. Every rehearsal has been a reminder that when people come together with a shared purpose, they build confidence, friendships, and something much bigger than a performance,” says McGhee. “Whether audiences are experiencing The Music Man for the first time or returning to a beloved favorite, I hope they leave humming the songs, laughing with their neighbors, and remembering the power of live theatre.”

With a cast of nearly 40 actors, resident costumers Dana Sulk and Rebecca Archambault team up to tackle this unique period-piece. “Costuming The Music Man is a huge undertaking”, said Archambault. “It’s been a challenge to create period-accurate costumes that are danceable and comfortable. The Music Man features an instant, on-stage, costume reveal that we look forward to sharing with you! My favorite part of the whole experience is the casts’ reaction when they first try on our creations and feel the creativity that went into making them.”
