MILWAUKEE – University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Chancellor Thomas Gibson will join Universities of Wisconsin Regent President Kyle Weatherly, UWs Interim President Renée Wachter, UW-Stout Chancellor Katherine Frank and UW-Parkside Chancellor Lynn Akey to announce a UWs new budget initiative focused on building the workforce pipeline and accelerating business and technology.
This budget announcement follows a separate announcement on the UWs budget related to expanding health care access.
Media are invited to cover the event, which will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center, 2100 E. Kenwood Blvd.
Gibson will discuss UWM’s role in strengthening Wisconsin’s talent pipeline, innovation ecosystem and long-term economic competitiveness. Lindsey Roddy, founder of RoddyMedical, will discuss how she benefited from entrepreneurship and research commercialization support through UWM’s U.S. National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program.

Guest speakers and leaders from other Universities of Wisconsin institutions will preview other budget initiatives aimed at building Wisconsin’s workforce and next generation of businesses.
