LA CROSSE, WI. – Today, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld state laws protecting girls’ and women’s sports, ruling that states may restrict men from participating in female sports.
While Congressman Derrick Van Orden praised the decision as a victory for fairness and common sense, Democrat Rebecca Cooke has remained silent.
Cooke’s silence comes after months of controversy surrounding her positions on LGBTQ-related issues. During two separate Democratic candidate forums this year, the once proud “ally,” stated that decisions regarding conversion therapy should be left to local governments, despite claiming that she “will always support Wisconsin’s LGBTQ+ community.”
After facing nearly two months of harsh backlash from members of her own political base, Cooke did not publicly address the controversy through her campaign. Instead, she quietly relayed a statement through a third-party Facebook page centralized to only her left-wing voter base, claiming she had “misunderstood” the question she was asked on multiple occasions.
“Lying Rebecca Cooke has spent months trying to tell different audiences different things, and now those contradictions are catching up with her. Today’s Supreme Court decision gives her another opportunity to provide a clear answer. Does Rebecca Cooke support the Supreme Court’s decision protecting girls’ sports, or does she oppose it? Wisconsin voters deserve to know where she stands.” – Grace Kim, Campaign Spox
