LA CROSSE, WI. – Tonight’s Democrat candidate forum once again showed Wisconsin voters that Rebecca Cooke will say whatever is politically convenient, even when it contradicts her own record.
During the forum, Cooke claimed she does not support defunding the police. But that statement conflicts with her own words from 2023, when she called for defunding law enforcement.
Cooke also attempted to rewrite her record on conversion therapy after previously stating support for a ban and then later claiming her comments were an “accident.” The problem? Those remarks were not a one-time mistake. Cooke made the same comment at multiple forums before quietly issuing an apology through a third party instead of directly answering questions from Wisconsin voters.
And on the Second Amendment, Cooke claimed tonight that she does not want to ban guns, despite previously calling for gun bans.
“Rebecca Cooke can’t run away from the positions she held before she was running for Congress. Tonight, Wisconsin voters saw a candidate trying to rewrite her record. At her core, Rebecca Cooke is an extreme Democrat who is now desperately trying to rewrite history and distance herself from the very positions she once supported.” – Grace Kim, Campaign Spox
