(La Crosse, Wisconsin) – The 14th annual Kids Free Fishing Day will be held on Saturday June 6th at Chad Erickson Memorial Park in La Crosse. The local labor council is teaming up with Union Sportsmen’s Alliance’s (USA) Boots on the Ground program to host the Annual Take Kids Fishing Day from 9am to noon on Saturday June 6, 2026.
This event provides perfect opportunity to introduce youngsters to the benefits of fishing and outdoors activities available in the Coulee Region.
Fishing poles with reels (to keep!), bait, light picnic-style sealed snacks, and drinks will be provided but participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone.
“A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.” – Fishing Adage
Over 1,250 children and their parents have attended the La Crosse event since 2012. As this event coincides with Wisconsin DNR’s “Free Fishing Weekend”; adults won’t need licenses to join their children and fish on the 6th.
The bait for the fishing event is again being donated by Ace Hardware of La Crosse.
The first 125 children registered to attend and attending (aged 2-16) will receive a fishing rod, reel, and a light lunch – Courtesy of the Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO and the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance.
The event is free but advanced registration is recommended.
