MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) announces that registration is open for WHEDA Conference 2026: How Housing Happens, taking place November 18 and 19 at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
The annual WHEDA Conference convenes developers, property managers, financial specialists, lenders, advocates, government officials, and other affordable housing leaders to collaborate and learn from industry experts. Attendees will have access to breakout sessions, keynote presentations, interactive workshops, hands-on training, the Vendor Marketplace, and Networking Reception, all focused on advancing affordable housing in Wisconsin.
“Everyone knows that partnerships and collaboration are more important than ever, given the state of housing that people can afford in Wisconsin and nationally,” said Elmer Moore, Jr., WHEDA CEO & Executive Director. “We design our conference to encourage attendees to make meaningful connections that lead to inspiring projects, giving more Wisconsinites access to the affordable housing choices they deserve.”
Confirmed keynote speakers include Jennifer Schwartz, Director of Tax and Housing Advocacy at the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA), and Mike Hathorne, author of “The Great Housing Reversal.” An additional keynote speaker will be announced soon.

WHEDA Conference 2026 spans a day and a half. Day one begins at noon with training and workshops, information on WHEDA programs and products, and skill development for addressing industry challenges. The day concludes with a keynote address and the Networking Reception.
Day two features a full schedule with the Vendor Marketplace, breakout sessions, and keynote addresses. Programming will follow four tracks:
- Multifamily Development and Finance
- Community Engagement
- Property Management and Compliance
- Affordable Housing Vision and Strategy
Registration is now open at $400 and includes access to all programming and meals. While single-day registration is not offered, discounts are available for nonprofits and Tribal members.
Exhibitor registration for the day two Vendor Marketplace is also open, with limited capacity and spaces assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Exhibitor booths start at $750 and provide affordable housing businesses with the opportunity to network and showcase their work. Companies may register to exhibit in the Vendor Marketplace here.
