Madison – The Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association (WCPA) today acknowledged Wisconsin State Senator Jesse James’ decision not to seek re-election to the Wisconsin State Senate.

Senator James (R-Thorp) has represented the 23rd Senate District since 2023, previously serving in the Wisconsin State Assembly. A U.S. Army veteran and longtime law enforcement professional, Senator James brought valuable firsthand experience in public safety to his legislative service.

“Senator James has been a steadfast advocate for law enforcement and public safety throughout his time in the Legislature,” said WCPA President Chief Danny Thompson.

“His background as a police officer gave him unique insight into the challenges facing our officers and communities. We appreciated his support for policies that strengthen law enforcement, protect our communities, and address critical issues like public safety funding and criminal justice reform. We thank him for his service and wish him and his family all the best in the future.”

The WCPA, which represents law enforcement leaders across Wisconsin and advocates for effective public safety policies, recognizes the demands of public service and the personal sacrifices it often requires.

The Association looks forward to continuing its work with all members of the Wisconsin Legislature to advance legislation that supports law enforcement professionals and enhances safety for all Wisconsin residents.
