March 17, 2026, Wisconsin— Today, Wisconsin Electoral Socialists (“WES”) announced its endorsements of David Liners for Wisconsin Assembly District 21 and Rep. Christian Phelps (D-93) for Wisconsin Assembly District 93. Christian Phelps is currently the only declared Democratic candidate for District 93, whereas David Liners is joining the race in Assembly District 21 to give voters a choice reflecting their values. Wisconsin’s 2026 primary election is set for Tuesday, August 11th.

Wisconsin Electoral Socialists (WES) is a membership organization founded in February of 2024 dedicated to supporting and campaigning for socialist and aligned candidates in Wisconsin. Both candidates submitted detailed questionnaires to WES and participated in interviews open to WES members, prior to endorsement.

WES is committed to publicly and materially supporting the campaigns of its endorsed candidates. WES members will be matching funds donated through a new ActBlue fundraiser at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/wesmatch.The organization is currently considering endorsements in other races at every level. Candidates interested in WES’s endorsement are welcome to contact the organization at wesocialists@gmail.com

WES released the following statement:

“WES is proud to endorse David Liners and Christian Phelps for the Wisconsin Assembly. Their long experience as community organizers will bring vital direction and wisdom to the Assembly. Their championing of working class people, focus on care and affordability, and independence from big money influence will ensure that the Democratic Party does not waste opportunities in future sessions.

David Liners has more than 30 years of experience leading work on policy, faith, and community issues all across Wisconsin. As a former director of the state-wide advocacy group WISDOM, David has fought tirelessly for the people most often harmed or overlooked by status quo politics. This work has given David a strong understanding of the state legislature, preparing him to be an active legislator on day one. WISDOM focuses in particular on issues affecting formerly incarcerated people, prison conditions and policies, and immigrant rights. They have blocked expansions of mass incarceration and defended Wisconsinites against the worst Republican policies, while also advancing and educating law-makers on bold progressive directions for the legislature. David Liners has lived in District 21 for more than 30 years, and was volunteering with and supporting candidate Jessica Seawright before she suspended her campaign.

Christian Phelps is running for his second term as Wisconsin State Representative for the 93rd District, covering parts of Eau Claire and nearby rural communities. He’s a member of the Wisconsin Legislative Socialist Caucus, along with Rep. Ryan Clancy (D-19), Rep. Darrin Madison (D-10), and outgoing Rep. Francesca Hong (D-76). In his first term, Rep. Phelps drew on his background organizing for public education at WPEN, consistently supporting robust K-12 funding and fighting against privatization. He’s refused the typical moral compromises of a representative in a competitive district: voting against new crimes and penalty enhancers, supporting strong protections against federal immigration agents, and fighting without hesitation for trans kids. He demonstrates that socialist and abolitionist ideas can have universal appeal when they’re explained clearly and carried with integrity.

WES is a growing socialist organization that makes decisions by consensus and adds members by consensus. Our members are excited to contribute their skills, experience, and labor to these campaigns, and those we endorse in the near future.”
