Madison, WI — The Wisconsin Environmental Health Network (WEHN) will host its annual Health & Environment Series: Making the Connection conference on March 5–6 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Arboretum, bringing together community members, health professionals, students, and leading scientists to explore how environmental conditions shape public health and daily life.
The conference will open with a free, in-person community lecture on Wednesday, March 5, from 6:30–8:00 pm, featuring Bruce Lanphear, MD, MPH, clinician scientist and professor at Simon Fraser University. His talk, The End of Fluoridation? A New Look at a Public Health Experiment, will examine the history, science, and ethics of fluoridation and invite public discussion on its future.
The full conference will take place on Thursday, March 6, from 12:30–6:30 pm, offered both in person and virtually. Featured speakers include Bruce Lanphear, MD, MPH, presenting Collateral Damage: Exposing the Hidden Toll of Toxic Chemicals; Tamarra James-Todd, MPH, PhD, discussing Regulatory Deficiencies for Phthalates and Toxins in Beauty Products and Health Disparities; and Jonathan Patz, MD, MPH, addressing Climate Change: Where Can We Make a Difference in Changing Times. The program will also include a panel discussion with local community organizers focused on environmental health challenges and solutions in Wisconsin.
