MADISON, Wis. — Today, Wisconsin Family Action (WFA) is launching a six-figure issue advocacy campaign encouraging Wisconsinites to call Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley to ensure that liquor stores can’t stay open while the government forces churches to close.

The campaign builds on concerns raised by the government-imposed church restrictions of 2020, when congregations faced limits on gathering even as other establishments continued operating. At the time, David Crowley championed the shutdown restrictions. When asked about his stance on extending church closures while liquor stores remained opened, Crowley proclaimed, “I absolutely agree.”

Under Crowley’s leadership Milwaukee County continued “emergency” orders through 2021 – over a year after the initial emergency orders. Democrat Representative Slyvia Ortiz-Velez claimed that Crowley’s continued emergency orders were an abuse of power.

WFA president Daniel Degner quipped, “While liquor stores remained open Crowley applauded government’s forced shutdowns of churches.” Degner asked, “We encourage Wisconsinites to join Democrat State Representative Ortiz-Velez in calling David Crowley to respect our God-given right to worship.”
