MADISON, Wis. — Despite clear video evidence showing that Alex Pretti was murdered by ICE agents in Minneapolis, Wisconsin Republicans like Tom Tiffany and Derrick Van Orden are telling Wisconsinites to not believe what they saw. The killing was so blatant that even GOP Rep. Glenn Grothman, who is better known for some off the cuff comments, said Pretti “did not have to die” and correctly referred to his death as a murder.
“Tom Tiffany and Derrick Van Orden are so disconnected from reality that Glenn Grothman looks like the adult in the room,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “If Derrick Van Orden and Tom Tiffany can’t see what is so clearly in front of them they can’t be expected to see what their district needs to get ahead.
“Instead of standing up for accountability, Tiffany and Van Orden have deflected, equivocated, and parroted excuses. In doing so, they have effectively abandoned the Second Amendment, using Pretti’s lawful possession of a firearm to justify a killing that never should have happened.”
