MADISON, Wis. — On the anniversary of Donald Trump’s Liberation Day declaration, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Devin Remiker released the following statement:
“A year ago today, Donald Trump enacted a chaotic and devastating tariff policy that continues to crater our economy and make daily life more expensive for Wisconsinites. As grocery bills rise, basics like school clothes and paper towels are becoming luxuries, and farming, manufacturing and small businesses in Wisconsin face extreme financial hardship with no end in sight.
“Trump’s tariff-taxes are crushing Wisconsin’s middle-class families, and despite being illegal, he has found a way to continue his war of self-interest by relying on his endorsed candidate for governor and reliable lackey, Tom Tiffany. Tiffany has not only ignored Wisconsinites being squeezed by high costs and the calls for help from businesses and farmers—he has made it worse by voting and advocating for Trump’s tariff-taxes from the beginning. There is no question that voters will hold Tiffany accountable at the ballot box for the cost-of-living crisis he has caused.”
