MADISON, Wis. — One year ago today, Van Orden tweeted “YES!” in response to a tweet detailing the devastating impacts MAGA’s Big Ugly Bill will have on Americans who rely on Medicaid and SNAP funding.

Van Orden was instrumental in the passage of the OBBB, which threatens healthcare for over 32,000 of his constituents and has already forced 15,500 Wisconsinites off of SNAP benefits. In addition, Wisconsin could lose $779 million in state revenue7,200 jobs, and $55 million in state and local tax revenue.

“Derrick Van Orden’s celebration of the devastating Medicaid and SNAP cuts was not some mistake, it was him saying the quiet part out loud,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Haley King. “D.C Derrick’s entire career in Congress has been spent trying to gain brownie points from his ultra-wealthy and powerful buddies out in Washington over actually helping his constituents.”
