MADISON, Wis. —It’s National Agriculture Week, and Wisconsin Republicans have decided to mark the occasion by continuing to rubber-stamp GOP policies that devastate Wisconsin farmers. They stand idly by as Trump imposes tariffs that harm farmers across the state, leaving small and medium sized farms to consider halting operations altogether. Wisconsin Republicans’ decision to fully back Trump’s illegal war with Iran puts additional pressure on Wisconsin farmers as already high fertilizer and fuel costs skyrocket as a result of the war.
“The GOP continues to break the empty promises they made to Wisconsinites,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Rachel La Due. “They promised lower prices, but Wisconsin farmers see less business and only higher operational costs. While expenses for fuel rise, our farmers also face shrinking markets, all because Trump put his own interests ahead of the American people. Meanwhile, not a single Wisconsin Republican is willing to stand up to him or fight for the farmers who are the backbone of our state.”
