MADISON, Wis. — Even as more Republicans split with Donald Trump on his disastrous trade war with Canada, Congressman Tom Tiffany, who has voted with Trump 100% of the time, continues to stand by his man.
The latest to bail is Mike Rogers, Trump’s hand-picked Michigan Senate nominee, who is now running ads calling for an end to Trump’s tariffs. Meanwhile, Tiffany has been one of Washington’s most enthusiastic supporters of Trump’s costly and destructive tariff regime, voting twice to protect tariffs on Canada earlier this year despite the toll on Wisconsin businesses, farmers, and families. He’s also
- Voted seven times to protect Trump’s tariffs even as Wisconsin companies and consumers paid approximately $3.5 billion in tariffs between March and December 2025.
- Strongly supported tariffs, saying, “I support them. I mean, tariffs have certainly had an impact.”
- Voted to sustain the tariffs after admitting they were causing Wisconsinites pain, saying “there have been some people that have been hurt by the tariffs, there’s no doubt about it.”
- Supported tariffs even as Wisconsin farms struggled to afford equipment, fertilizer, and lost trading partners while farm bankruptcies skyrocketed, increasing 700% in 2025.
“Tammy Wynette’s got nothing on Congressman Tom Tiffany. Even as Republicans run away from Trump’s tariff war, he is still standing by his man while Wisconsin’s farmers, manufacturers, and families foot the bill,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Loyalty makes for a great country song, but it makes for a lousy governor, and Wisconsin can’t afford four years of Tom Tiffany choosing Trump over us.”
