MADISON, Wis. — As life continues to become more expensive for Wisconsinites across the state, residents in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District are looking for answers to help. The problem? Their Representative, Tony Wied, whose job is to represent them in D.C, has been nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Democratic candidates have been showing up across northeastern Wisconsin, including Wied’s challenger, retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel Rick Crosson.

Crosson launched a “showing up” tour to listen to voters’ concerns, no matter their party affiliation. Wied and down-ballot Republicans have been invited to join, but ignored the invitation thus far. They are welcome to join the tour, where Crosson and down-ballot Democrats have heard from voters across the political spectrum who are worried about rising costs of basic necessities such as gas, groceries, and healthcare.

“It’s no wonder Tony Wied is hiding from his constituents: he is a caricature of why voters hate D.C.,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Haley King. “The only qualification his campaign touts is an endorsement from a President who has done nothing in office but raise costs on working class Wisconsinites, and understands he has a rubber-stamp in Tony Wied. The people of Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District deserve a representative who shows up for them, and Rick Crosson is committed to not just doing that, but also following through and fighting for them in D.C.”
