MADISON, Wis. — Today, the Young Democrats of Wisconsin, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, and Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson announced that the Young Democrats of America convention will be hosted for the first time ever in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2027—the same city where companies like Harley Davidson and Miller Brewing first started, and that young people across the country are flocking to.

In response to the announcement, Young Democrats of Wisconsin Chair Jake Williams released the following statement:

“This is an incredible and exciting opportunity to showcase the incredible city of Milwaukee and everything it has to offer. A city on the rise, Milwaukee’s rich economic and cultural diversity offers a unique experience unlike any other: From the Harley Davidson factory to the Black Holocaust museum, to incredible views of Lake Michigan from Bradford Beach, as well as Old Fashioneds and a food scene that can satisfy even the pickiest eaters, our city has so much to offer. We cannot wait for 2027 and the opportunity to showcase to young Americans everywhere that Democrats are looking towards building a better future for them.”

In response to the announcement, WisDems Chair Devin Remiker released the following statement:

“Wisconsin’s young Democrats are demonstrating what tomorrow’s leadership should look like. They don’t just show up to knock doors — they are constantly engaging with their communities, hosting food drives, holding community meetings, and organizing year-round to grow our future base. The Young Democrats of Wisconsin are a model for how these organizations can and should be run. Once you’ve had the opportunity to work firsthand with Jake Williams, you know why they were trusted to lead and host the 2027 Young Democrats of America, which will be pivotal in our work getting ready for the 2028 senate and presidential races in Wisconsin.”

In response to the announcement, Milwaukee Mayor Chevy Johnson released the following statement:

“Milwaukee is ready to welcome the Young Democrats of America. This city has a proud history of civic engagement and organizing, and hosting the next generation of Democratic leaders is something we take seriously. We’re excited to show them what Milwaukee is all about.”
