MADISON, Wis. — A new Townhall piece exposes the staggering price Wisconsin taxpayers would pay for David Crowley’s tax-and-spend agenda.

According to the article, Crowley’s plans to repeal Act 10 and burn through Wisconsin’s Republican-built surplus would increase annual state spending by at least $6 billion, costing taxpayers an estimated $1,935 each year.

“David Crowley’s ‘affordability’ pitch is a fraud. He raised Milwaukee County property taxes five times, hiked the sales tax for the sixth year and now wants to unleash his tax-and-spend disaster statewide,” said WisGOP Chairman Brian Schimming. “His plan would torch Wisconsin’s Republican-built surplus, stick taxpayers with nearly $2,000 in additional costs every year, and bankrupt our state within two years. Crowley has already forced Milwaukee County families to pay for his failures. Wisconsin taxpayers cannot afford to give him a promotion.”

Crowley has already shown Wisconsin what his version of “affordability” looks like. As Milwaukee County executive, he raised property taxes five times in six years. The one year he did not raise property taxes, he supported increasing the county sales tax instead.

Now, Crowley wants to take that failed Milwaukee model statewide by:

• Repealing Act 10 and adding billions in government spending
• Draining Wisconsin’s Republican-built budget surplus
• Preserving Tony Evers’ 400-year property tax increase
• Advancing costly energy mandates that would raise utility bills

While Crowley demands more from taxpayers, Tom Tiffany is fighting to return the surplus, cut income taxes by 10 percent, and end the 400-year property tax increase.

The contrast could not be clearer: Tom Tiffany will put money back in Wisconsinites’ pockets. David Crowley would tax it, spend it, and leave working families with the bill.
