Milwaukee – On September 16, WUWM 89.7 Milwaukee’s NPR will release season three of its podcast, Swing State of the Union. Hosted by WUWM’s Lake Effect producers Joy Powers and Sam Woods, the new season explores a timely question ahead of Wisconsin’s November elections: Who has the power to shape Wisconsin’s future?
Across seven episodes, Powers and Woods speak with voters in swing districts around the state about the issues influencing their decisions at the ballot box. The series examines who has the authority to make decisions on issues ranging from data center development to public school funding and immigration rights and regulations.
“Each season of Swing State of the Union helps listeners better understand who and what is shaping politics in Wisconsin,” said Becky Mortensen, WUWM’s executive producer of Lake Effect and editor of the podcast. “This season focuses on which elected officials have the power to influence some of the top issues concerning Wisconsin voters. It will provide information and context to help voters make decisions in the upcoming November election. We’re excited to bring these conversations to audiences as Wisconsin heads into another consequential election.”
As Wisconsin voters prepare to elect a governor, state legislators and members of Congress on November 3, the podcast explores how elected officials influence policies that directly affect communities across the state. Through conversations with Wisconsin residents, experts, policymakers and organizations, Swing State of the Union helps listeners understand how decisions are made at different levels of government and what those decisions mean for Wisconsinites.
