MILWAUKEE — JoCasta Zamarripa, Milwaukee Alderperson and candidate for Wisconsin Secretary of State, issued the following statement in response to shocking new reporting from the Guardian revealing alleged exploitation of Mexican workers at Uline facilities in Pleasant Prairie:

“The billionaire Uihlein family—among the biggest Republican mega-donors in the nation—have helped bankroll the very politicians, including Donald Trump, behind today’s out-of-control immigration crackdowns.

Now we learn that workers in Pleasant Prairie say Mexican employees were pushed into dangerous, exhausting conditions and punished for speaking up—all while fueling Uline’s enormous wealth.

This is the rigged system in plain sight: billionaires fund the crackdown, then exploit the very people targeted by it—because they think money shields them from consequences. Wisconsin needs transparency, a real investigation, and accountability that applies to everyone.”

Zamarripa emphasized that Wisconsin cannot look the other way when some of the state’s wealthiest political donors are implicated in labor abuses connected to vulnerable immigrant workers. She urged state and federal authorities to review the allegations and determine whether labor, civil rights, or human trafficking laws were violated.
